1. General information
The objective of the subject is to prepare the student in the techniques and procedures, elements and instruments for the analysis and localization of our historical sources. That is, to access and know the basic methods and knowledge of Diplomacy, such as commenting, analysing, typologically classifying and editing medieval documentation.
These approaches and objectives are aligned with the following Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the 2030 Agenda of the United Nations (2030 Agenda (https://www.un.org/sustainabledevelopment/es/).

2. Learning results
In order to pass this subject, students must demonstrate the following learning results:
Identify and distinguish the documentary types of the chancelleries of the Hispanic Kingdoms.
Identify and locate the elements of diplomatic discourse.
Prepare documentary editions.
Use the main dating systems.
Describe the validation marks of medieval times.
Identify and distinguish true documents from forged ones.

1. Introduction.
2. Documentary genesis.
3. The form of the documents.
4. The documentary tradition.
5. Chancelleries of the Hispanic kingdoms.
6. The notary's office.
4. Academic activities
- Theoretical face-to-face classes. Classroom presentation of each topic of the program.
- Readings and personal work of the students in order to enhance their comprehension skills and written and oral expression.
- Practical face-to-face classes. In the practical classes the student will come into contact with specific documents on facsimile reproductions in order to carry out their correct analysis. The activities will take place in the classroom and, also in off-campus visits.
- Face-to-face and virtual tutoring.
Assessment In accordance with the characteristics and criteria detailed in the “Assessment System" section.
5. Assessment system
I. First call
a) Continuous assessment system (in the case of an enrolment of no more than 25 students):
- Theoretical-practical test with questions corresponding to the different topics of the program (50%).
- Practical exercises consisting of diplomatic commentaries on various documents (30%).
- Active participation and autonomous work (20%).
b) Global assessment test (to be held on the date set in the academic calendar) in which the student must demonstrate an adequate level in terms of the learning results of the subject (100%).
II. Second call
- Global assessment test (to be held on the date established in the academic calendar). The same requirements as for the first call will apply. Students will demonstrate an adequate level of proficiency in the learning results of the subject.
In all cases, in order to obtain an average, it is necessary to have obtained a minimum of 4 points in each of the parts (theoretical and practical).
Assessment criteria: terminological rigor, ability to relate concepts, writing skills and clarity, presentation and spelling.
